I had a great time attending the Mowdy Ranch Mustang Run 2016. The Mowdy Ranch is now the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM)’s second wild horse ecosanctuary in the United States. Located 12 miles NE of Coalgate in the hills of southeastern Oklahoma and the ranch is home to about 150 wild horse. The Mustang Run is trail run through the beautiful acres of the ranch with the horses running all around you. The hills and the sunrise are breath taking and the wildlife you get to see as you run through the country side is amazing. It was a wonderful experience being able to capture some images and videos of these beautiful horse and the people that love them. This was the Mowdy Ranch’s 2nd Mustang Run and the crowd turn out was more than expected. There were several local people there to support the ranch and the horse as well as people that travel around the country participating in marathon and trail runs. It was great seeing people of all ages there from small children running along their parents side (even some being carried) to senior citizens. Mustang Run is a great experience everyone can enjoy. All proceeds from the run are donated to the BLM for the continued care and maintenance of these beautiful animals.
